10 Day Lesson Plan for Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block
Day #1
12.1.1. By the end of the twelfth grade, students will identify the main idea and supporting details in what they have read.

Objective: Students will read and interpret the book Dangerous Angels. We will have continue discuss as we read through the book.
For this day, my assessment plan will be the discussion with a guided worksheet on Day 3 when we finish Book One.
We will be discussing in class the requirements for the response paper, and what they need to be focusing on while they are reading.

For this day, my assessment plan will be the discussion with a guided worksheet on Day 3 when we finish Book One. Will be writing a short response for Book #1 in class.
Discussion will occur for 30 minutes.
This will be a large group discussion as we break down the introduction to the rest of the book. We will outline characters, plot, setting, and the purpose/main idea of the first book.
As individuals the class with write a short response paper, 1-2 pages, about the main idea and supporting details of Book One. They will be able to use their books and notes from the class discussion. Expectations are specific examples from the text, and critical analysis gathered from in-class discussion.

First we will journal over the newspaper article presented.
Book Three: Cherokee Bat and The Goat Guys will be read/acted out in class.
All the poems and letters will be read through volunteers, or the drawing of sticks. As a class we will read 159-200. If we have time at the end of class we will discuss the book and their responses to the newspaper article.

Will Discuss Book Three for about 20 minutes. Then have students write a Poem in response to the reading. Each student will then present their ten to twenty line poems to the class.

Day #10

Objective: Students will read and interpret the book Dangerous Angels. We will have continued discuss as we read through the book.
Final Paper due on Day #11
In class discussion will occur for almost 35 minutes regarding the whole book. This will be an intense discussion covering the whole book. Also they will be asked to get out the worksheet handed out on Day #4 regarding sample topics for the Final Paper. They will be asked to have an outline ready. They last 15 minutes will be spent answering any questions or concerns for the final paper. I will then review everyone’s outline to ensure they created one, and this will go down as a grade.
Materials that will be needed for this day include their book, questions they have about their paper due on Monday, and an outline of their paper topic.
Analysis will show on their final paper that will be due on Day #11. Topics have already been presented to them, and as we have read the book I have given them ideas on what would be powerful discussion tools.
This 10 unit over the book Dangerous Angels would be taught in a 12th grade English Honorary classroom. These lessons are designed around a 50 minute classroom period.
